A vibrant mainstream primary school in Kendal, is looking for someone to support the teacher working as a 1-1 Teaching Assistant with a child with Global Development Delay. This long-term Teaching assistant role is ideal for enthusiastic individuals with SEND experience.
The school is a welcoming, inclusive and warm environment, with supportive senior leadership, they are looking for someone to work part time 8:30- 12:30.
Working closely with the teacher to adapt the curriculum to child’s needs
Encouraging the child back into the classroom
Understanding the needs of children with SEND
To help the child build confidence and reach milestones
Working inside and outside the classroom environment
Half day working hours
Is ambitious about the progress of young people
Has excellent communication skills
Work closely with teachers and SENCOs to implement tailored support plans
Be compassionate, patient and committed to inclusive education
A background in early years, care, health, or social work
Patience, flexibility, active listening, and ability to build a great relationship
A recognised Teaching Assistant qualification
Experience supporting children with SEND
Passionate working with young children or adults with disabilities

Term time
Safeguarding children is an integral part of what we do and we have a stringent safer recruitment process. We undertake checks on all the candidates we work with. As such we require a current Enhanced DBS Disclosure for everyone working in Schools. If you do not have a subscription to the DBS Update Service, you may be required to complete a new DBS application as part of the registration process. If you take a temporary role with Sense Education you will be paid on a weekly basis. All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position but long term. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available.
