Functional Skills Teaching Assistant

We are looking for a passionate Functional Skills Teaching Assistant to assist in a lovely school in Kendal. This is an excellent opportunity for anybody who has a passion for teaching and to build their experience.

School hours are 8.45am – 3.30pm we are looking for people who have experience working with children with special needs. You’ll play an essential role in supporting the teacher and children throughout the day. This rewarding role where you’ll build relationships, help create engaging learning experiences, and support students’ emotional, social and physical development.

Your responsibilities will include:

Have previous experience of work 1-1 and supporting small groups with targeted learning tasks
Hold NVQ Level 3 or equivalent
Be an excellent communicator
Be a committed team member but also able to work with independent when required
Creating a calm, positive learning environment tailored to each pupil’s needs

Can support children within the classroom and support to the class teacher
Can adapt learning to ensure it suits the needs of the pupil
A background in primary, early years, care, health or social work
Knowledge or experience with SEN environments

Working hours:

Monday to Friday 8.30am – 3.30pm (Term Time only)

If you take a temporary role with Sense Education you will be paid on a weekly basis. All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position but long term. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available.
