Supply SEND Teacher

Supply SEND Teacher

We are recruiting on behalf of a school in Rochdale that requires a supply SEND Teacher to cover from now until May half-term. The role would involve covering PPA across the whole school, monitoring, assessing and reporting on pupils’ academic progress and working alongside a team of teaching assistants and external professionals. The school would of course tailor the timetable to match the strengths of the right person and ensure they are well supported by the staff team. There is also a strong possibility that this school will be recruiting permanently in the summer, so
this is a great opportunity for the right person to get to know the school and the pupils.

About the Pupils

You’ll be working with young children with Autistic Spectrum Disorder/Social, Emotional and Mental /Health needs. Every pupil at this school is working significantly below age-related expectations and does not follow the National Curriculum, therefore lessons need to be highly personalised and tailored to their individual needs. Most learners are at very early stages of communication, often using alternative methods such as visuals, gestures and communication aids. Many also require consistent support with regulation and behaviour.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Has a Qualified Teacher Status or equivalent
  • Has experience within a specialist SEND setting (essential)
  • Is confident and comfortable within this setting
  • Teaches with creativity, purpose, and play
  • Has excellent communication skills
  • Is patient, empathetic and understanding towards individual student needs
  • Can work 3-5 days a week

This is a unique opportunity to join a school that values innovation, celebrates every success (big or small) and places pupil wellbeing at the heart of everything they do. If you are ready to inspire, support and transform young lives, we would love to hear from you.

Safeguarding children is an integral part of what we do and we have a stringent safer recruitment process. We undertake checks on all the candidates we work with. As such we require a current Enhanced DBS Disclosure for everyone working in Schools. If you do not have a subscription to the DBS Update Service, you may be required to complete a new DBS application as part of the registration process. If you take a temporary role with Sense Education you will be paid on a weekly basis. All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position but long term. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available.
