Primary Teaching Assistant

We have an exciting position for a Primary Teaching Assistant to support a pupil 1:1 and also in small class groups. You will be supporting a non verbal pupil with additional needs. The position is an immediate start full time. School hours are 8:30 – 3:30. You will be supporting the pupil in class and also going to additional sessions such as speech and language. You will communicate with the Teacher regularly about the pupils progress and you also are required to communicate regularly with he parents.

The role

  • To support the teacher in delivering a curriculum tailored to the pupils’ needs.
  • Using different communication methods such as makaton and pictures.
  • Using positive behaviour management methods
  • Reporting at the end of the day of the pupils progress with the class teacher
  • Applying a creative and dynamic approach to learning

 

The ideal candidate

  • Will have experience of working as a Teaching Assistant or early years educator
  • Be passionate about supporting young people with additional learning needs
  • Willing to create strong relationships with staff, students and care providers
  • Have a kind and caring approach to learners
  • May have a childcare qualification, TA qualification or degree.
