1:1 Teaching Assistant

We have an exciting new position for a Primary Teaching assistant to support a pupil with Autism. The role is to work 1:1 with the pupil and also in the class. The role is to help the pupil develop communication, literacy, numeracy and social skills. To support the class teacher in assisting the pupil in reaching their educational goals.The ideal person for this role will be caring and compassionate with a calm approach to learning. They will be fun and creative approach to engage the pupil.

The role

• To support the class teacher in delivering KS2 lessons tailored to the pupil’s needs.
• Supporting the pupil in developing skills such as communication and social skills.
• Taking a caring approach to engage the pupil.
• communicating and reporting back to the teacher each day on the pupils development.
• When required to engage with the parents.
• Keeping the learning environment safe, clean and tidy for development.

The ideal candidate

• Will have experience in supporting young people or adults with Autism.
• Have a caring approach to supporting young people.
• Passionate about making and improving the learning journey for young people with SEND
• May have an Autism awareness qualification but not a must
• May have a childcare or TA qualification but not a must

We will offer training and support in the position, everyone who works for us is required to complete Safeguarding Training. Safeguarding children is an integral part of what we do and we have a stringent safer recruitment process. we undertake checks on all the candidates we work with. As such we require a current Enhanced DBS Disclosure for everyone working in Schools. If you do not have a subscription to the DBS Update Service, you may be required to complete a new DBS application as part of the registration process. If you take a temporary role with Sense Education you will be paid on a weekly basis.
