We have a position to start after the Easter holidays to support a reception class in a Primary school in the Penrith area.
We are looking for a Teaching Assistant who is passionate about working with young people and making a difference to their educational journey. The role requires someone who has knowledge of EYFS and who is passionate about working with young people with additional learning needs.
The primary school is vibrant and a supportive place to work. You will be working part of a dynamic class supporting the teacher in delivering lessons and also supporting pupils with Autism and ADHD. The person for the role will be creative and adaptive to the learners needs. Te role requires assisting with writing learning journals and interventions for phonics and basic numeracy. You may be using alternative communication techniques such as Makaton and pictorial communication. When required the successful person for the role may be working with 3rd party suppliers such as speech and language therapists.
The person for the role will be expected to provide a safe and secure environment for the pupils. you will use resources to plan activities and help them to meet early learning goals within knowledge, skills and understanding. You’ll need to record observations and summarise achievements and liaise with parents, staff and other educational professionals when required.

School hours are 8.30 – 3.30. The position is long term. Initially the role will be working until the summer holidays with the expectation for the position to be extended.
Training and support is offered in the position, everyone who works for us is required to complete SEND Safeguarding Training. Safeguarding children is an integral part of what we do and we have a stringent safer recruitment process. we undertake checks on all the candidates we work with. As such we require a current Enhanced DBS Disclosure for everyone working in Schools. If you do not have a subscription to the DBS Update Service, you may be required to complete a new DBS application as part of the registration process. If you take a temporary role with Sense Education you will be paid on a weekly basis.
