Secondary Teaching Assistant – SEND

Support Educate and Nurture – Sense Education are dedicated to improving the learning journey of young people with additional needs.

We are looking for a Secondary Teaching Assistant to work with pupils with additional needs. The position is to work in a specialist SEND unit supporting KS3 and KS4 pupils. You may be supporting across all subjects but tailoring the lessons to the pupils abilities, this will be 1:1, in small groups and within class. The role requires someone who is dynamic and adaptable to each pupil.

You will be working as part of a busy dedicated and expanding team of Teachers and TAs. The role is in a secondary school environment supporting pupils who may have varying learning needs. It is an exciting time for the school as it is expanding and developing the SEND department.

The ideal person for the role.

  • Dedicated to supporting young people with SEND, in particular Autism and ADHD
  • Experience in a similar environment of supporting people with additional needs
  • Will have GCSEs or NVQ level 2 to be able to support at GCSE level if required
  • compassionate and a great communicator to work with a friendly SEND team.

The role offers a long term opportunity and full time. School hours are 8:30 – 3:30 – the role requires someone who can offer a consistent and supportive approach for the pupils.

We will offer training and support in the position, everyone who works for us is required to complete Safeguarding Training. Safeguarding children is an integral part of what we do and we have a stringent safer recruitment process. we undertake checks on all the candidates we work with. As such we require a current Enhanced DBS Disclosure for everyone working in Schools. If you do not have a subscription to the DBS Update Service, you may be required to complete a new DBS application as part of the registration process. If you take a temporary role with Sense Education you will be paid on a weekly basis.
