The ideal Speech and Language Teaching Assistant will be a passionate graduate who has previous experience supporting children or adults with SEN.
As the successful applicant, you will be working with pupils who have challenges communicating using speech sounds, you will be given guidance from the Teacher and Speech therapist. You will be expected to use PECs and also Makaton as alternative communication techniques. Alongside the staff you will be responsible for safeguarding and protecting the welfare of young people. You will be expected to work as a team with the other TA’s to provide a nurturing and safe learning environment.

Safeguarding children is an integral part of what we do and we have a stringent safer recruitment process. We undertake checks on all the candidates we work with. As such we require a current Enhanced DBS Disclosure for everyone working in Schools. If you do not have a subscription to the DBS Update Service, you may be required to complete a new DBS application as part of the registration process. If you take a temporary role with Sense Education you will be paid on a weekly basis.
