Speech and Language Teaching Assistant

We have an exciting position for a Speech and Language Teaching Assistant to work in a school assisting pupils in Leeds. The role is to join a school in September and assist pupils who are developing speech and language skills. Some pupils may also have Autism and learning disabilities. We are looking for a Speech and Language Teaching Assistant who can work long term and full time, however we will also consider part time applicants.

The ideal Speech and Language Teaching Assistant will be a passionate graduate who has previous experience supporting children or adults with SEN.

 

As the successful applicant, you will be working with pupils who have challenges communicating using speech sounds, you will be given guidance from the Teacher and Speech therapist. You will be expected to use PECs and also Makaton as alternative communication techniques. Alongside the staff you will be responsible for safeguarding and protecting the welfare of  young people. You will be expected to work as a team with the other TA’s to provide a nurturing and safe learning environment.

 

Attributes required for the role:

• Experience with Speech and Language.
