SEN Teaching Assistant

We have a position to start in September for an SEN Teaching Assistant in a secondary school in Whitehaven. The role is to work in a specialist SEND department. In the role, you will assist students with ADHD, ASD, and learning needs. You will be offered a tailored mentoring approach, participating in classroom activities. Your dedication and enthusiasm as an SEN Teaching Assistant will play a crucial role in enriching their educational experience. Additionally, you’ll collaborate with the team to ensure the safety and well-being of every child.

 

We are looking for people who have supported young people in some capacity, you may have knowledge of Key Stages or you may be an expert in supporting additional needs.

 

The role is to:

  • Empower Young People Through Education: Guide and support pupils with Autism, ADHD, and Challenging Behaviour across Years 7-11.
  • Create positive attitudes towards learning: Foster a supportive approach where every student can thrive. Some students may require assistance with SEMH.
  • Have a collaborative Team approach: Work with other staffing members to create a positive environment for all.

 

School hours are 8:30am – 3:30pm – we are looking for people who would would be interested in working temp to perm. The school can offer full time employment and also part time, 3 days a week. Safeguarding children is an integral part of what we do and we have a stringent safer recruitment process. We undertake checks on all the candidates we work with. As such we require a current Enhanced DBS Disclosure for everyone working in Schools. If you do not have a subscription to the DBS Update Service, you may be required to complete a new DBS application as part of the registration process. If you take a temporary role with Sense Education you will be paid on a weekly basis.
