Reception Teaching Assistant

We are currently looking for a Reception Teaching Assistant to start ASAP in a Primary school in Carlisle. We are looking for a dedicated passionate person who has experience of working either with EYFS or KS1.

 

The school has had a recent large intake of children with additional needs who require 1:1 and class support. As a reception teaching Assistant you will be supporting young people with additional needs such and Autism, ADHD and speech and language delays. The role is to work within a friendly dynamic team.

 

The school has a supportive network of staff and senior leadership team. You will be offered support in the role and we will also offer SEND training.

 

The role:

  • To work closely with the classroom teacher to deliver engaging and interactive lessons.
  • Provide 1:1 or small group support to students with additional needs.
  • Help develop a safe and nurturing environment for learning, also with classroom management and behaviour guidance to ensure a positive learning atmosphere.
  • Assist in school activities and events that encourage the holistic development of the pupils.
  • Promote learning through indoor and outdoor play.

 

The ideal person:

  • Has a passion for working with young people at EYFS.
  • Has a passion for working with young people with Autism and other additional needs.
  • Has patience, empathy, and a positive attitude.
  • Has a basic understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum or KS1.
  • Holds relevant qualifications or has a willingness to work towards relevant qualifications is considered a plus.

 

School hours are 8.40am – 3.15pm – the position is a full time position with an immediate start – we will also consider part time people for the role.

Safeguarding children is an integral part of what we do and we have a stringent safer recruitment process. We undertake checks on all the candidates we work with. As such we require a current Enhanced DBS Disclosure for everyone working in Schools. If you do not have a subscription to the DBS Update Service, you may be required to complete a new DBS application as part of the registration process. If you take a temporary role with Sense Education you will be paid on a weekly basis.

 

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position but it is long term. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available.
