Disability Support Worker

 

We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Disability Support Worker to join our team at a specialist SEND school setting in Kendal. This is a rewarding role where you will be directly supporting children with disabilities, helping them thrive in a nurturing and supportive learning environment.

 

Key Responsibilities:

-Support students with a range of Special Educational Needs (SEND), ensuring their participation and success in classroom activities.
-Work closely with the class teacher and other professionals to deliver tailored educational plans.
-Encourage independence, confidence, and social skills development in students.
-Foster a positive, inclusive, and safe learning environment for all students.
-Assist with classroom management, supporting students both academically and emotionally.
-Provide personal care when required, including assistance with mobility, hygiene, and other daily living tasks.

 

Ideal Candidate:

-Experience working with children or adults with SEND, ideally within an educational or care setting.
-Teaching Assistant (TA) qualification or Care qualification is highly beneficial.
-Prior classroom experience would be an advantage.
-A kind, compassionate, and patient approach to supporting students.
-Proactive, with the ability to adapt to changing needs and environments.
-Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Safeguarding children is an integral part of what we do and we have a stringent safer recruitment process. We undertake checks on all the candidates we work with. As such we require a current Enhanced DBS Disclosure for everyone working in Schools. If you do not have a subscription to the DBS Update Service, you may be required to complete a new DBS application as part of the registration process. If you take a temporary role with Sense Education you will be paid on a weekly basis. All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position but long term. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available.
