Are you passionate about supporting children with autism? This is a fantastic opportunity to work as an Autism Support Teaching Assistant at an inclusive setting in Carlisle, supporting young people with autism in a nurturing and tailored environment.

About the Role:

• Work closely with teachers to support students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs.
• Assist in delivering personalized education plans for pupils with EHCPs (Education, Health, and Care Plans).
• Provide one-to-one or small group support to help students engage with learning.
• Help create a safe and encouraging classroom environment, with a focus on autism-specific strategies.
• Gain experience working alongside educational specialists such as Speech and Language Therapists and Educational Psychologists.

Person Specification:

• A teaching assistant qualification
• Experience or a strong interest in supporting students with autism or other additional needs.
• Patient, kind, and committed to providing tailored support to young learners.
• A strong communicator who can build positive relationships with students and staff.
• Reliable, consistent, and nurturing approach.

The Details:

Location: Carlisle

Hours: 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM, Monday to Friday – part time applications are also welcomed.

Safeguarding children is an integral part of what we do and we have a stringent safer recruitment process. We undertake checks on all the candidates we work with. As such we require a current Enhanced DBS Disclosure for everyone working in Schools. If you do not have a subscription to the DBS Update Service, you may be required to complete a new DBS application as part of the registration process. If you take a temporary role with Sense Education you will be paid on a weekly basis. All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position but long term. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available.
