Are you passionate about supporting children with special educational needs?


We’re looking for a compassionate and dedicated SEND Support Assistant to join a specialist school supporting young children with autism and communication needs. Whether you have professional experience in education, care work, or early years, or personal experience supporting someone with additional needs, we’d love to hear from you!


The Role:

  • Support learning with a specialised curriculum tailored to each child’s needs.
  • Encourage communication using PECS, Makaton, and AAC devices.
  • Promote social and emotional development in a calm, structured environment.
  • Assist with personal care such as toileting, dressing, and feeding.
  • Work closely with teachers, therapists, and families to help children thrive.


Who We’re Looking For:

  • Teaching Assistants, Nursery Practitioners, Care Workers, or Parents/Carers with SEND experience.
  • Empathetic, patient individuals.
  • A genuine passion for supporting children with SEND.

Hours:

  • Full time and part time positions available.
  • 8.30am-3.30pm up to 5 days per week. No weekends.

Safeguarding children is an integral part of what we do and we have a stringent safer recruitment process. We undertake checks on all the candidates we work with. As such we require a current Enhanced DBS Disclosure for everyone working in Schools. If you do not have a subscription to the DBS Update Service, you may be required to complete a new DBS application as part of the registration process. If you take a temporary role with Sense Education you will be paid on a weekly basis. All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position but long term. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available.
