In this role you will support learners aged 16 to 19 to access learning, overcome barriers, and grow in confidence. The Role

• Provide one to one and small group support, scaffolding learning and helping students to engage with core curriculum and college pathways
• Adapt resources, differentiate tasks, and offer alternative strategies so that all learners can access content
• Work closely with teachers, support staff, and external professionals to design inclusive approaches and interventions
• Support students’ social, emotional, and behavioural development, helping them build self advocacy, resilience, and independence
• Monitor progress, contribute to learning plans / EHCP reviews / student support plans, and adjust support accordingly
• Serve as a bridge between departments, promoting inclusive practices and embedding equity across college life

The Ideal Person / Essential Skills & Qualifications

• Experience working with young people with SEND (for instance, in schools, residential care, support work, therapies, or youth services)
• Empathy, patience, and strong relational skills
• Ability to design flexible and creative approaches to learning and engagement
• Understanding of SEND frameworks, differentiation, and personalised planning
• Excellent communication skills (verbal, written) and ability to collaborate across teams
• Relevant qualification eg. Degree, Teaching Assistant qualification, Childcare qualification
• The drive to see potential in others and the determination to support barriers being removed

Hours

8.30am to 3.30pm, Monday to Friday (term time)
Flexible patterns considered (part time / job share)

Safeguarding children is an integral part of what we do and we have a stringent safer recruitment process. We undertake checks on all the candidates we work with. As such we require a current Enhanced DBS Disclosure for everyone working in Schools. If you do not have a subscription to the DBS Update Service, you may be required to complete a new DBS application as part of the registration process. If you take a temporary role with Sense Education you will be paid on a weekly basis. All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position but long term. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available.
