Post 16 SEND Teaching Assistant/learning support assistant

Sense Education is recruiting a Post 16 TA for this inclusive further education college, that is committed to supporting students with SEND. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a supportive and inclusive setting.

 

The Ideal Candidate

  • Experienced TA’s ready to step into further education setting
  • Newly qualified TA’s or graduates with drive, energy and compassion
  • Ability to relate well to Young Adults and communicate effectively at all levels
  • Work independently and as part of a wider team
  • Knowledge and experience of behaviour management
  • Deal effectivity with students presenting challenging behaviour
  • Have a good understanding of SEND and inclusive education practices

 

About The Role

  • Closely working with students with a range of needs, including Autism, ADHD, social, emotional or mental health and communication difficulties
  • Providing 1-1 or small group support to help them thrive
  • Monitor and encourage the progress of students, providing feedback to teachers and team
  • Assist with the development of resources and educational materials.
  • Act as a positive role model, maintaining high standards and professionalism
  • Encouraging independence and life skills

 

Qualifications & Requirements

  • A recognised Teaching Assistant qualification or a background in education or care (NVQ, CACHE, Degree, or equivalent)
  • Experience supporting children with SEND
  • Passionate working with young children or adults with disabilities

 

Location – Whitehaven

Role Type: Full Time / Part Time/ Temp – Perm

Pay Rate: £14.60 – £16.90 per hour

Safeguarding children is an integral part of what we do and we have a stringent safer recruitment process. We undertake checks on all the candidates we work with. As such we require a current Enhanced DBS Disclosure for everyone working in Schools. If you do not have a subscription to the DBS Update Service, you may be required to complete a new DBS application as part of the registration process. If you take a temporary role with Sense Education you will be paid on a weekly basis. All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position but long term. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
