Post-16 Teaching Assistant

We are a specialist education recruitment agency working in partnership with a SEND Sixth Form, currently seeking a dedicated and proactive Post-16 Teaching Assistant to support learners aged 16-19 with special educational needs and disabilities.

This is a rewarding opportunity for someone passionate about preparing young people for independent living, employability and adulthood through structured, practical support.

Within This Role, You Will:

Support students with SEND in life skills and functional learning sessions
Assist learners with daily living skills such as personal care, travel training and money management
Encourage confidence, self-advocacy and emotional regulation
Support students during work experience, vocational activities and community-based learning
Work closely with teachers, support staff and external professionals to implement EHCP outcomes
Promote a safe, respectful and inclusive learning environment tailored to individual needs

The Ideal Candidate:

Has experience supporting young people with SEND (Post-16, SEN school, college, care or support settings)
Understands or is willing to learn about Autism, learning difficulties and complex needs
Is patient, compassionate and confident supporting young people with varying levels of independence
Can build positive, professional relationships with learners

Working Hours

Term-time only

Monday – Friday

8.30am – 3.30pm

Safeguarding children is an integral part of what we do and we have a stringent safer recruitment process. We undertake checks on all the candidates we work with. As such we require a current Enhanced DBS Disclosure for everyone working in Schools. If you do not have a subscription to the DBS Update Service, you may be required to complete a new DBS application as part of the registration process. If you take a temporary role with Sense Education you will be paid on a weekly basis. All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position but long term. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available.
