Primary Teaching Assistant

A welcoming specialist primary school in Blackburn is seeking experienced and passionate Primary SEND Teaching Assistants to join its dedicated team and start in September.

This is a brilliant opportunity for individuals with hands-on experience supporting children with additional needs—whether in schools, SEN provisions, care, or therapy settings—to take the next step in their career. Both full-time and part-time applications are encouraged.

The Role

As a Primary SEND Teaching Assistant, you’ll work with pupils aged 4–11 with a range of needs including Autism, ADHD, communication difficulties, and global developmental delay.

Your role will include:

• Delivering 1:1 and small-group support in a nurturing classroom
• Using visual supports, sensory strategies, and structured routines to engage pupils
• Supporting children’s emotional regulation and modelling positive behaviour strategies
• Helping adapt learning activities to match each child’s developmental stage
• Promoting independence, communication, and self-esteem
• Contributing to a calm, consistent, and supportive learning environment

What We’re Looking For

This role is ideal for candidates with meaningful experience supporting children or vulnerable individuals. Backgrounds in education, care, youth services, or therapy are all valued.

• Proven experience supporting children with SEND
• A calm, patient, and resilient attitude
