Reception Learning Support Assistant

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Reception Learning Support Assistant to join a dynamic and supportive team. The ideal candidate will be committed to making a real difference in the lives of students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), particularly those with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).

This role offers the opportunity to work 1-1 and in small groups, providing vital support to children who need a tailored and nurturing approach to their education. As part of the team, you will have the chance to implement sensory circuits, support emotional regulation, and contribute to behaviour management strategies. The Role
As a Reception Learning Support Assistant, your main responsibilities will include:

• Providing 1-1 and small group support to children with SEND, including those with ASD.
• Assisting with sensory circuits to help children regulate their emotions and behaviour.
• Supporting children with emotional regulation and behaviour management techniques in and outside the classroom.
• Collaborating closely with teachers and other staff to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
• Helping to plan and implement activities that promote the social, emotional, and academic development of each child.

The Ideal Person
The ideal candidate will have:

• A Teaching Assistant qualification (Level 2 or 3).
• Experience working with children with SEND, particularly those with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), is highly desirable.
• A patient, empathetic, and calm approach to working with children.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to adapt to the varying needs of each child.
• A commitment to creating an inclusive and engaging learning environment.
• The ability to manage challenging behaviours effectively and positively.

Hours
This role is full-time, working Monday to Friday, from 8.30 am to 3.30 pm.

Safeguarding children is an integral part of what we do and we have a stringent safer recruitment process. We undertake checks on all the candidates we work with. As such we require a current Enhanced DBS Disclosure for everyone working in Schools. If you do not have a subscription to the DBS Update Service, you may be required to complete a new DBS application as part of the registration process. If you take a temporary role with Sense Education you will be paid on a weekly basis. All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position but long term. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available.
