Poppy Cope – Candidate Attraction Specialist

Poppy’s journey into the SEND sector was inspired by her mum, a SEN teacher whose passion showed her from a young age just how powerful and rewarding this work can be. From helping in classrooms to meeting pupils, she saw first-hand the joy of making a real difference in young people’s lives.

She has since worked as a Teaching Assistant across SEND schools, supporting pupils from early years to post-16. What inspires her most is the way pupils support and uplift one another, often without words.

Poppy joined Sense Education after meeting Maddie, whose values perfectly reflect the team: caring, passionate, and supportive. As a Candidate Attraction Specialist, she connects amazing people with meaningful SEND roles—something she truly loves.

She is currently studying for a Psychology degree at Leeds Beckett University and has recently completed certificates in Safer Recruitment and Supporting Children in SEND.

Outside of work, she gets her energy from trying new activities like pottery or axe throwing as well as heading out for long walks with family, and indulging in a good Sunday roast.
