A specialist school in Leeds is seeking a confident and empathetic Complex Needs Teaching Assistant to join their team. This is a rewarding opportunity to join a dedicated team who work to ensure that every learner receives the personalised support they deserve.

 

The Role

As a Complex Needs Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital part in supporting pupils with a wide range of additional needs, including communication difficulties, sensory needs, physical disabilities, and social-emotional challenges. Your day will involve working closely with the class teacher and specialist staff to support the pupils with their personalised timetable and interventions, which support their development and sensory needs.

 

The Ideal Candidate

This role suits individuals from a variety of backgrounds, especially those who bring creativity, patience and a passion for inclusive education.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience working in schools, health and social care settings, youth work, or with young people with special educational needs.

  • experience d working with SEN and complex needs is highly valued

  • A strong communicator, team player, and someone who can adapt quickly to meet the diverse needs of the pupils.

  • A graduate in psychology, education, or child development. Having either a Teaching assistant or childcare qualifications would be desirable.

  • A calm and resilient approach to challenges.

 

Working Hours

Monday – Friday

8:30am – 3:30pm

Term time only

Safeguarding children is an integral part of what we do and we have a stringent safer recruitment process. We undertake checks on all the candidates we work with. As such we require a current Enhanced DBS Disclosure for everyone working in Schools. If you do not have a subscription to the DBS Update Service, you may be required to complete a new DBS application as part of the registration process. If you take a temporary role with Sense Education you will be paid on a weekly basis. All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position but long term. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available.
